HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are saddened to learn of the passing of United States Army Specialist James "Chad" Young, who passed away while serving his country on November 3, 2010, in Nar-Kariz, Kandahar Province, Afghanistan; and

WHEREAS, He was born August 10, 1985, in Springfield, to Jerry and Brett Ann Bowen Young; he was raised in the Rochester area, attended Ball-Chatham schools, and graduated from Glenwood High School in 2003; and

WHEREAS, He joined the United States Army in 2004 and served in Korea before deployment to Afghanistan for the first time, returning in late 2007; he was called back for a second tour of duty and arrived in Afghanistan in early June of this year, where he was assigned to the 863rd Engineer Battalion; and

WHEREAS, He was promoted to corporal posthumously; and

WHEREAS, United States Army Specialist James "Chad" Young is survived by his parents; his sister, Katie Marie Robbins; his brother, Steven Baptist; his girlfriend, Maria Millburg; his grandmother, Gladys Young; his nieces and nephews, Caleb Baptist, Elizabeth Baptist, Sydney Robbins, and Kamryn Robbins; his aunts and uncles, Lois Young, Patty and John "Sandy" Bacia, John and Carol Bowen, Joannie and Dave McCallister, and Joe and Rosie Bowen; and his 16 cousins; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with his family, friends, and a grateful nation, the passing of United States Army Specialist James Young; and be it further

RESOLVED, That we honor the memory of United States Army Specialist James Young and his willingness to serve his country, which led to him making the ultimate sacrifice; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of United States Army Specialist James Young as a symbol of our sincere sympathy.
