| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of |
| 3 | | Representatives are pleased to congratulate Sister M. Joan |
| 4 | | Sorge of St. Agnes Grade School in Springfield for winning the |
| 5 | | 2010 Distinguished Principal Award from the National Catholic |
| 6 | | Education Association and for being named one of the 2010 Class |
| 7 | | of National Distinguished Principals from the National |
| 8 | | Association of Elementary School Principals; and
|
| 9 | | WHEREAS, Sister M. Joan Sorge earned her bachelor's degree |
| 10 | | from St. Ambrose College in Iowa and her master's degree from |
| 11 | | the University of Illinois; and
|
| 12 | | WHEREAS, Sister M. Joan Sorge has made the spiritual and |
| 13 | | faith development of all members of her school community her |
| 14 | | highest goal and greatest accomplishment for more than 25 years |
| 15 | | as a Catholic school leader; during her tenure at St. Agnes |
| 16 | | Grade School, she has been instrumental in creating the |
| 17 | | school's preschool program, hands-on science laboratory, and |
| 18 | | automated library system; she was also instrumental in |
| 19 | | upgrading the school's instructional technology and in the |
| 20 | | evaluation and cycling of the school's textbooks and other |
| 21 | | learning materials; and
|
| 22 | | WHEREAS, Sister M. Joan Sorge was chosen among 12 national |

| 1 | | finalists to receive the National Catholic Education |
| 2 | | Association's Distinguished Principal Award at a ceremony on |
| 3 | | April 6, 2010 at the National Catholic Educational Association |
| 4 | | Annual Convention in Minneapolis, Minnesota, in recognition of |
| 5 | | her many accomplishments as principal at St. Agnes Grade |
| 6 | | School; and
|
| 7 | | WHEREAS, The National Association of Elementary School |
| 8 | | Principals' National Distinguished Principals program honors |
| 9 | | outstanding elementary and middle level administrators who |
| 10 | | assure that America's children acquire a sound foundation for |
| 11 | | lifelong learning and achievement; Sister M. Joan Sorge was |
| 12 | | picked to be one of only 5 principals representing private and |
| 13 | | parochial schools internationally to belong to the 2010 class |
| 14 | | of National Distinguished Principals; she will be honored for |
| 15 | | this designation on October 15, 2010 in Washington, D.C., while |
| 16 | | attending a 2-day event honoring the principals' |
| 17 | | accomplishments; and
|
| 18 | | WHEREAS, Sister M. Joan Sorge serves as a model of hard |
| 19 | | work, integrity, and dedication for the people of the State of |
| 20 | | Illinois; therefore, be it
