| 2 | | WHEREAS, The Grocery Merchandising Association (GMA) was |
| 3 | | formed in 2003 as a result of a merger between two well-known |
| 4 | | associations, the Grocery Manufacturers Sales Executives Club |
| 5 | | (GMSE) and the Merchandising Executives Club (MEC); and
|
| 6 | | WHEREAS, The Grocery Manufacturers Sales Executives Club |
| 7 | | was founded in 1910 to provide a forum for all members of the |
| 8 | | food industry to discuss and encourage sound, ethical, and |
| 9 | | sustainable business practices; and
|
| 10 | | WHEREAS, The Merchandising Executives Club was founded in |
| 11 | | 1953 to provide innovative marketing and merchandising |
| 12 | | programs and services for all members of the food distribution |
| 13 | | channel; and
|
| 14 | | WHEREAS, After nearly 50 years as two separate |
| 15 | | organizations, the Grocery Manufacturers Sales Executives Club |
| 16 | | (GMSE) and the Merchandising Executives Club (MEC) merged into |
| 17 | | one dynamic organization with roots dating back to 1910; and
|
| 18 | | WHEREAS, The Grocery Merchandising Association membership |
| 19 | | is comprised of a diverse group of executives representing a |
| 20 | | wide range of consumer product companies, retailers, |
| 21 | | wholesalers, food brokers, as well as companies supporting the |
