HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of  
3Representatives are pleased to honor the  owner and employees of 
4MacArthur's Restaurant in Chicago for the organization's 
5dedicated service to the citizens of the Austin community and 
6the State of Illinois; and
  
 
7    WHEREAS, Seeing a lack of healthy food choices for members 
8of the Austin community, Mr. MacArthur Alexander founded 
9MacArthur's Restaurant in February of 1997 to provide 
10affordable and nutritious meals to accommodate members of the 
11his community; and
  
 
12    WHEREAS, MacArthur's Restaurant currently serves over 
1320,000 people every month; and

  
 
14    WHEREAS, Mr. Alexander also places a special emphasis on 
15hiring ex-felons at MacArthur's Restaurant in order to help 
16them rebuild their lives following their incarceration; and
  
 
17    WHEREAS, Mr. Alexander and his restaurant serve as models 
18of hard work, integrity, and dedication for the people of the 
19State of Illinois; therefore, be it
  
 
20    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE

1NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we 
2honor Mr. MacArthur Alexander and the employees of MacArthur's 
3Restaurant for its dedicated service to the citizens of the 
4Austin community and the State of Illinois and its great 
5dedication to the cause of advancing opportunities for 
6ex-offenders; and be it further
  
 
7    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
8presented to Mr. MacArthur Alexander as a symbol of our esteem 
9and respect.
