HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of  
3Representatives are pleased to honor the Berwyn Development 
4Corporation for the organization's dedicated service to the 
5citizens of the Berwyn community and the State of Illinois; and
  
 
6    WHEREAS, The Berwyn Development Corporation (BDC) was 
7founded in 1983 when the City of Berwyn, the South Berwyn 
8Business Association, the Berwyn business community, and the 
9residents of Berwyn worked jointly to create the BDC as the 
10City's economic development arm; the BDC's initial focus was to 
11help existing businesses grow within the community and to 
12administer the City's commercial loan pool; and
  
 
13    WHEREAS, The BDC is a not-for-profit corporation that 
14functions as a public-private partnership with the City of 
15Berwyn, providing economic development and Chamber of Commerce 
16services to all segments of the Berwyn community; the BDC 
17currently serves over 300 business and individual members; and
  
 
18    WHEREAS, Through its numerous programs, such as the 
19Commercial Loan Program and Tax Increment Financing districts, 
20the BDC commits itself to activities that improve the overall 
21climate for local business and encourage the development of 
22additional business and employment opportunities; and

1    WHEREAS, The BDC's work has been recognized by the Illinois 
2Association of Chamber of Commerce Executives and the 
3International Economic Development Council; and
  
 
4    WHEREAS, The BDC serves as a model of hard work, integrity, 
5and dedication for the people of the State of Illinois; 
6therefore, be it
  
 
7    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
8NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we 
9honor the Berwyn Development Corporation for the 
10organization's dedicated service and wish the BDC's employees 
11continued success and happiness in the future; and be it 
12further
  
 
13    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
14presented to the Berwyn Development Corporation as a symbol of 
15our esteem and respect.
