| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
| 3 | Representatives are pleased to congratulate Kim M. Brunner, | ||||||
| 4 | Executive Vice President, Chief Legal Officer and Secretary for | ||||||
| 5 | State Farm Mutual Automobile Insurance Company, on his | ||||||
| 6 | retirement; and
| ||||||
| 7 | WHEREAS, Mr. Brunner works for State Farm Insurance in | ||||||
| 8 | Bloomington and oversees legal matters and public affairs, in | ||||||
| 9 | addition to acting as corporate secretary; and
| ||||||
| 10 | WHEREAS, He joined State Farm Insurance in 1987 as counsel | ||||||
| 11 | at corporate headquarters; he was promoted to associate general | ||||||
| 12 | counsel in 1991, vice president and counsel in 1993, and vice | ||||||
| 13 | president-regulatory general counsel in 1997; he was named | ||||||
| 14 | senior vice president and general counsel in 1998, executive | ||||||
| 15 | vice president and general counsel in 2001, and executive vice | ||||||
| 16 | president and general counsel and secretary in 2004; he assumed | ||||||
| 17 | his current position in 2008; and
| ||||||
| 18 | WHEREAS, Before joining State Farm, he served as counsel | ||||||
| 19 | for the Illinois Department of Insurance and as government | ||||||
| 20 | relations officer for the Nationwide Insurance companies; and
| ||||||
| 21 | WHEREAS, He received his Bachelor's degree in political | ||||||
| |||||||
| |||||||
| 1 | science from Augustana College and his juris doctor degree from | ||||||
| 2 | the University of Arizona-College of Law in Tucson; he also | ||||||
| 3 | earned the Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter designation | ||||||
| 4 | in 1983; and
| ||||||
| 5 | WHEREAS, He currently serves on the Board of Overseers of | ||||||
| 6 | the Institute for Civil Justice, co-chairs the Civil Justice | ||||||
| 7 | Reform Group, and co-chairs the General Counsel Committee of | ||||||
| 8 | the National Center for State Courts; he is Chairman of the | ||||||
| 9 | Board at Augustana College; he is also a member of the | ||||||
| 10 | Foundation Board of Trustees of the Second Presbyterian Church, | ||||||
| 11 | the McLean County Protect Our Nation's Youth Board, as well as | ||||||
| 12 | a member of the McLean County, State of Illinois, and American | ||||||
| 13 | Bar Associations; and | ||||||
| 14 | WHEREAS, Mr. Brunner is married to Donna, and they have 2 | ||||||
| 15 | adult sons; therefore, be it
| ||||||
| 16 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE | ||||||
| 17 | NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we | ||||||
| 18 | congratulate Kim Brunner on his retirement and wish him the | ||||||
| 19 | best in all his future endeavors; and be it further
| ||||||
| 20 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
| 21 | presented to Kim Brunner as a symbol of our respect and esteem.
