2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
3 | Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Lance | ||||||
4 | Corporal James Bray Stack who gave his life in service of our | ||||||
5 | Nation on November 10, 2010, in the Sangin District of Helmand | ||||||
6 | Province, Afghanistan; and
| ||||||
7 | WHEREAS, Lance Corporal James Bray Stack was born July 11, | ||||||
8 | 1990 in Schaumburg, the son of Robert Bruce Stack and Linda | ||||||
9 | Lorraine (nee Bray) Stack; and
| ||||||
10 | WHEREAS, Lance Corporal James Bray Stack was home-schooled | ||||||
11 | with the Christian Liberty Academy at Arlington Heights | ||||||
12 | curriculum, played soccer with Christian Liberty Academy, was | ||||||
13 | named Most Valuable Player on the school's track team, and met | ||||||
14 | his future wife, Katelyn "Kate" Landeweer, at the Academy; and
| ||||||
15 | WHEREAS, Lance Corporal James Bray Stack was a rifleman | ||||||
16 | (0311) assigned to India Company (2nd Platoon) of the Darkhorse | ||||||
17 | 3/5 Marines, 1st Marine Division, I Marine Expeditionary Force, | ||||||
18 | based in Camp Pendleton, California; and
| ||||||
19 | WHEREAS, Lance Corporal James Bray Stack's awards for | ||||||
20 | personal service include the Purple Heart, the Combat Action | ||||||
21 | Ribbon, the National Defense Service Medal, the Global War on |

| |||||||
1 | Terrorism Medal, and the Afghanistan Campaign Medal; and | ||||||
2 | WHEREAS, United States and Illinois State flags throughout | ||||||
3 | the State will fly at half-staff from November 18-20, 2010, as | ||||||
4 | a symbol of mourning and honor for the sacrifice of Lance | ||||||
5 | Corporal James Bray Stack; and | ||||||
6 | WHEREAS, Lance Corporal James Bray Stack will be remembered | ||||||
7 | for faith in Christ, love of country, generous spirit, | ||||||
8 | patriotism, and love for his family and friends; and

9 | WHEREAS, Lance Corporal James Bray Stack is survived by his | ||||||
10 | wife, Kate; his 1-year-old daughter; Mikayla; his parents, | ||||||
11 | Robert and Linda Stack; his sister, Megan Lorraine Stack; his | ||||||
12 | grandparents, Jo Ann Stack and Gene Bray; his mother-in-law, | ||||||
13 | Dawn (Tom) Hedrick; his sister-in-law, Joanne Savage; Katie's | ||||||
14 | grandmother, Eleanor Savage; and his father-in-law, Michael | ||||||
15 | Landeweer; as well as his fellow soldiers and the citizens of a | ||||||
16 | grateful nation; therefore, be it

17 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE | ||||||
18 | NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we | ||||||
19 | mourn, along with his family and friends, the passing of Lance | ||||||
20 | Corporal James Bray Stack; and be it further

21 | RESOLVED, That we honor the memory of Lance Corporal James |

1 | Bray Stack and his willingness to serve his country, which led | ||||||
2 | to him making the ultimate sacrifice; and be it further | ||||||
3 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||

5 | symbol of our sincere sympathy.
