| 1 | HOUSE RESOLUTION
| ||||||
| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
| 3 | Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Dr. | ||||||
| 4 | Michael Stablein of Chicago, who passed away on November 14, | ||||||
| 5 | 2010; and
| ||||||
| 6 | WHEREAS, Dr. Michael J. Stablein, DDS, PhD, served as | ||||||
| 7 | president of the Chicago Dental Society; Dr. Stablein was an | ||||||
| 8 | active member of organized dentistry since his graduation from | ||||||
| 9 | the University of Illinois at Chicago College of Dentistry in | ||||||
| 10 | 1978; and
| ||||||
| 11 | WHEREAS, Dr. Stablein was elected treasurer of the Chicago | ||||||
| 12 | Dental Society in 2006, and rose through the offices; his term | ||||||
| 13 | as president began January 1, 2010; leading up to his years | ||||||
| 14 | with the Board of Directors, Dr. Stablein held all offices in | ||||||
| 15 | the West Side Branch, culminating in the presidency in | ||||||
| 16 | 1992-1993 and a three-year term as Branch Director, from 1997 | ||||||
| 17 | to 1999; and
| ||||||
| 18 | WHEREAS, He served on the Chicago Dental Society's Access | ||||||
| 19 | to Care, Mediation and Membership committees for several years | ||||||
| 20 | before turning his attention to the Midwinter Meeting; he | ||||||
| 21 | ultimately served as General Chair of the 139th Midwinter | ||||||
| 22 | Meeting 2004; and

| 1 | WHEREAS, Dr. Stablein was also an accomplished scholar; he | ||||||
| 2 | had a certificate in periodontics and a doctorate in pathology | ||||||
| 3 | from the University of Illinois-Chicago; he published several | ||||||
| 4 | journal articles, and co-authored a chapter in The Histology of | ||||||
| 5 | the Oral Mucosa; he was an instructor in periodontics and | ||||||
| 6 | pathology at the University of Illinois-Chicago Medical Center | ||||||
| 7 | from 1978 to 1987 and was a member of the University of | ||||||
| 8 | Illinois at Chicago Dental Alumni Association Board of | ||||||
| 9 | Directors; and
| ||||||
| 10 | WHEREAS, Dr. Stablein was most proud of his family; he is | ||||||
| 11 | survived by his wife, Dr. M. Caroline Scholtz; and their four | ||||||
| 12 | children: Michael, Gabriela, Andrew, and Amelia; therefore, be | ||||||
| 13 | it

| 14 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE | ||||||
| 15 | NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we | ||||||
| 16 | mourn, along with his family and friends, the passing of Dr. | ||||||
| 17 | Michael Stablein; and be it further
| ||||||
| 18 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
| 19 | presented to the family of Dr. Michael Stablein as a symbol of | ||||||
| 20 | our sincere sympathy.
