| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
| 3 | Representatives are pleased to recognize our esteemed | ||||||
| 4 | colleague, State Representative Betsy Hannig, for her service | ||||||
| 5 | and hard work on behalf of the people of the State of Illinois; | ||||||
| 6 | and
| ||||||
| 7 | WHEREAS, Representative Hannig was born in Peoria and | ||||||
| 8 | attended Melvin-Sibley High School; she graduated with a | ||||||
| 9 | Bachelor's Degree in Agricultural Economics and Animal Science | ||||||
| 10 | from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign; prior to | ||||||
| 11 | her service as State Representative, Betsy Hannig worked with | ||||||
| 12 | the Piatt County Cooperative Extension Service and the | ||||||
| 13 | bipartisan support agency, Citizen's Assembly; most recently | ||||||
| 14 | she worked as an account analyst with the State Teachers | ||||||
| 15 | Retirement System; and
| ||||||
| 16 | WHEREAS, Representative Hannig, who took office in March | ||||||
| 17 | 2009, passed five pieces of legislation into law, including | ||||||
| 18 | measures reforming adoption and public health laws, | ||||||
| 19 | encouraging charitable giving to support Route 66, benefitting | ||||||
| 20 | State parks, and helping disabled veterans; she was a strong | ||||||
| 21 | proponent of efforts to construct an innovative new energy | ||||||
| 22 | facility in Taylorville to create jobs for local residents, and | ||||||
| 23 | helped pass a multi-billion dollar public works program that | ||||||

| 1 | has put thousands of unemployed workers back on the job and | ||||||
| 2 | modernized critical transportation infrastructure; and
| ||||||
| 3 | WHEREAS, Representative Hannig's deep respect for the role | ||||||
| 4 | of farming and the raising of livestock has played in the | ||||||
| 5 | State's history, an appreciation heightened by her own work as | ||||||
| 6 | a former stable manager, collaboration with the Horseman's | ||||||
| 7 | Council of Illinois, and academic training, have benefitted her | ||||||
| 8 | constituents through her legislative efforts and support for | ||||||
| 9 | Illinois farmers; and
| ||||||
| 10 | WHEREAS, Representative Hannig has served as a dedicated | ||||||
| 11 | advocate for the 98th House District and the concerns of its | ||||||
| 12 | residents; she is married to former State Representative Gary | ||||||
| 13 | Hannig, who preceded her in office and currently serves as | ||||||
| 14 | Illinois Secretary of Transportation; she proudly continued | ||||||
| 15 | the tradition of effective representation to which its | ||||||
| 16 | residents were accustomed; therefore, be it
| ||||||
| 17 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE | ||||||
| 18 | NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we | ||||||
| 19 | congratulate State Representative Betsy Hannig on her service | ||||||
| 20 | in the Illinois House of Representatives and wish her continued | ||||||
| 21 | success in all of her future endeavors; and be it further
| ||||||
| 22 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
