HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Susan I. 
4"Sue" Staley of Springfield, who passed away on December 27, 
52010; and
  
 
6    WHEREAS, She was born October 20, 1946 in Springfield to 
7Louis H. "Newt" and Wilma M. Ley Staley; she married Jim 
8Gardner on February 14, 1999; and
  
 
9    WHEREAS, She was a graduate of Sacred Heart Academy and the 
10University of Illinois-Springfield; she was a lifelong 
11Democrat and a Precinct Committeewoman; she was a member of the 
12American Legion Auxiliary and Eagles Aerie Auxiliary; and
  
 
13    WHEREAS, She loved to play bingo and was a resident of 
14Springfield her entire life; she loved to
travel, but hated to 
15fly; she loved boating and fishing, but
hated the water; she 
16loved Las Vegas and Tunica, but did not  like gambling; and she 
17said she was a terrible cook, but
everything she made was 
18delicious; and
  
 
19    WHEREAS, She worked for 42 years for the State of Illinois, 
20the past 35 years for the House of Representatives; she retired 
21in 2008, last working for former State Representative Kurt

1Granberg; during her long career serving the Members of the

2Illinois House of Representatives, she earned an outstanding 
3reputation as one of the
most loyal, helpful, and friendly

4employees
of the House; and
  
 
5    WHEREAS, Sue Staley is survived by her husband, Jim 
6Gardner; her mother, Wilma M. Staley; her step-daughter, Stacey 
7Gardner; her sisters, Jane Staley, Laura (Steven Goldstein) 
8Staley, and Rita (Kevin) Gallagher; her sister-in-law, Cindy 
9(Steve) Dahlhauser; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins; 
10therefore, be it
  
 
11    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
12NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we 
13mourn, along with her family, friends, and others, the passing 
14of Susan "Sue" Staley; and be it further
  
 
15    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
16presented to the family of Sue Staley as a symbol of our 
17sincere sympathy.
