| AN ACT concerning local government.
|

| Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, |
| 3 |
| represented in the General Assembly:
|

| Section 5. The Counties Code is amended by adding Section |
| 5 |
| 5-25026 as follows:
|
| 6 |
| (55 ILCS 5/5-25026 new)
|
| 7 |
| Sec. 5-25026. Locally grown foods. Except in emergency |
| 8 |
| situations, including but not limited to a food-borne disease |
| 9 |
| outbreak, the board of health of a county or multi-county |
| 10 |
| health department may not discourage the purchase or |
| 11 |
| consumption of locally grown foods in relation to foods that |
| 12 |
| are not locally grown.

| 13 |
| Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon |
| 14 |
| becoming law.
