| AN ACT concerning education.
|

| Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, |
| 3 |
| represented in the General Assembly:
|

| Section 5. The Local Food, Farms, and Jobs Act is amended |
| 5 |
| by adding Section 30 as follows:
|

| Sec. 30. Farm-school database. The Department of |
| 8 |
| Agriculture shall establish, and make available on its website, |
| 9 |
| a geo-coded electronic database to facilitate the purchase of |
| 10 |
| fresh produce and food products by schools. The database shall |
| 11 |
| be developed jointly with the Local Food, Farms, and Jobs |
| 12 |
| Council and, at a minimum, contain the information necessary |
| 13 |
| for (i) schools to identify and contact agricultural producers |
| 14 |
| that are interested in supplying schools in the State with |
| 15 |
| fresh produce and food products and (ii) agricultural producers |
| 16 |
| of fresh produce and food products to identify schools in the |
| 17 |
| State that are interested in purchasing those products. The |
| 18 |
| Department of Agriculture shall adopt rules necessary to |
| 19 |
| implement this Section. The Department of Agriculture shall |
| 20 |
| also solicit federal and State funding for the purpose of |
| 21 |
| implementing this program. The requirement of the Department to |
| 22 |
| establish, and make available on its website, this database |
| 23 |
| shall become effective once the Department has secured all of |
