AMENDMENT TO SENATE BILL 615

    AMENDMENT NO. ______. Amend Senate Bill 615 by replacing

everything after the enacting clause with the following:

    "Section 5. The Local Food, Farms, and Jobs Act is amended  
5
by adding Section 30 as follows:

    (30 ILCS 595/30 new)
7
    Sec. 30. Farm-school database. The Department of 
8
Agriculture shall establish, and make available on its website, 
9
a geo-coded  electronic database to facilitate the purchase of 
10
fresh produce and food products by schools. The database shall 
11
be developed jointly with the Local Food, Farms, and Jobs 
12
Council and, at a minimum, contain the information necessary 
13
for (i) schools to identify and contact agricultural producers 
14
that are interested in supplying schools in the State with 
15
fresh produce and food products and (ii) agricultural producers 
16
of fresh produce and food products to identify schools in the

State that are interested in purchasing those products. The 
2
Department of Agriculture shall adopt rules necessary to 
3
implement this Section. The Department of Agriculture shall 
4
also solicit federal and State funding for the purpose of 
5
implementing this program. The requirement of the Department to 
6
establish, and make available on its website, this database 
7
shall become effective once the Department has secured all of 
8
the additional federal or State funding necessary to implement 
9
this program.".
