| AN ACT concerning education.

| Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
|
| 3 |
| represented in the General Assembly:
|

| Section 5. The School Code is amended by adding Section |
| 5 |
| 21-25.5 as follows:
|

| 7 |
| Sec. 21-25.5. Marriage and family therapist certification. |
| 8 |
| Not later than June 1, 2010, the State Board of Education shall |
| 9 |
| initiate rulemaking to provide standards for the certification |
| 10 |
| of marital and family therapists employed by school boards. |
| 11 |
| These rules shall include certification requirements to be met |
| 12 |
| by (i) licensure as a marital and family therapist under the |
| 13 |
| Marriage and Family Therapy Licensing Act and (ii) completion |
| 14 |
| of such other experience and other programmatic requirements as |
| 15 |
| the State Board of Education deems appropriate for the position |
| 16 |
| of marital and family therapist in a school system.

| Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon |
| 18 |
| becoming law.
