Amends the Illinois Drainage Code. Provides that the commissioners of a drainage district must advertise for bids whenever the cost of any work to be performed by the district or the cost of specified materials and equipment exceeds $20,000 (now, $5,000). Effective immediately.

| AN ACT concerning local government.

| Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
|
3 |
| represented in the General Assembly:
|

| Section 5. The Illinois Drainage Code is amended by |
5 |
| changing Section 6-1 as follows:
|

Advertising for Bids on Construction Work and |

| Purchases. )
Whenever the cost of any work to be performed by |
9 |
| the district or the
cost of any machinery, equipment, materials |
10 |
| or supplies to be purchased
by the district will exceed $20,000 |
11 |
| $5,000 , the commissioners shall advertise
for sealed bids for |
12 |
| the performance of such work or the furnishing of
such |
13 |
| machinery, equipment, materials or supplies by publishing a |
14 |
| notice
in a newspaper published or having general circulation |
15 |
| in the county in
which the district was organized not less than |
16 |
| once each week for 3
successive weeks. The first such |
17 |
| publication shall be made not less than
17 days prior to the |
18 |
| date set for opening the bids. The notice shall
particularly |

| set out the time when and the place where the bids will be
|
20 |
| opened, the nature of the work to be performed or the |
21 |
| machinery,
equipment, materials or supplies to be purchased and |
22 |
| the terms of
payment. The commissioners may reject any and all |
