    Amends the Interscholastic Athletic Organization Act.  Provides that a short announced prayer before all athletic events sanctioned by the Illinois High School Association, including State tournaments, must be permitted. Effective immediately.

    AN ACT concerning education.

    Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,

represented in the General Assembly:

    Section 5. The Interscholastic Athletic Organization Act

is amended  by adding Section 1.5 as follows:

    (105 ILCS 25/1.5 new)

    Sec. 1.5. Prayer permitted.  A short announced prayer before 
8
all athletic events sanctioned by the Illinois High School 
9
Association, including State tournaments, must be permitted.

    Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon 
11
becoming law.
