Appropriates $10,200,000 from the General Revenue Fund to the Department of Human Services for a grant to The Autism Program for an Autism Diagnosis Education Program for young children. Effective July 1, 2009.

AN ACT concerning appropriations.
Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, represented in the General Assembly:
Section 5. Findings. The Autism Program of Illinois, established by P.A. 93-9395 and expanded to include The Autism Program Service Network by P.A. 95-707, represents the largest statewide system of care in the country. Headquartered at The Hope Institute for Children and Families, The Autism Program of Illinois and the Service Network engage over 30 agencies and universities to support evidence-based services, workforce development, and resources and referrals to individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder across the State. The Autism Program Service Network includes: (1) twelve Regional Centers; (2) two Outreach Centers; and (3) numerous training and support programs impacting families, physicians, early interventionists, educators, daycare providers, and first responders. The Autism Program has provided more than 20,000 clinical contacts in FY2006-FY2008 and has trained more than 19,000 parents and providers.
Section 10. Appropriation. The sum of $10,200,000, or so much of that amount as may be necessary, is appropriated from the General Revenue Fund to the Department of Human Services for a grant to The Autism Program for an Autism Diagnosis Education Program for young children.
Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect July 1, 2009.
