AMENDMENT TO SENATE BILL 2530

    AMENDMENT NO. ______. Amend Senate Bill 2530, AS AMENDED,

by replacing everything after the enacting clause with the 
4
following:

    "Section 5. The Illinois Municipal Code is amended  by 
6
changing Section 7-4-7 as follows:

    (65 ILCS 5/7-4-7)  (from Ch. 24, par. 7-4-7)

    Sec. 7-4-7. Police district. 
9
    (a) The territory which is embraced within the corporate 
10
limits of
adjoining municipalities within any county in this 
11
State shall be a police
district.
12
    (b) On or after the effective date of this amendatory Act 
13
of the 96th General Assembly, the corporate authorities of a 
14
municipality located within a county with a population between 
15
39,001 and 39,499, based on the 2000 federal decennial census, 
16
may, by an affirmative vote of the majority of its members,

dissolve its police district. A municipality that dissolves a 
2
police district under this subsection (b) may reconstitute the 
3
police district by an affirmative vote of a majority of the 
4
members of the corporate authority.

    Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon

becoming law.".
