| AN ACT concerning veterans.
|

| Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
|
| 3 |
| represented in the General Assembly:
|
| 4 |
| Section 5. The War on Terrorism Compensation Act is amended |
| 5 |
| by changing Section 10 as follows: |
| 6 |
| (330 ILCS 32/10)

| 7 |
| Sec. 10. Compensation. |
| 8 |
| (a) Subject to appropriation, every person who has served |
| 9 |
| on active duty with the armed forces of the United States on or |
| 10 |
| after September 11, 2001 and prior to such time as Congress |
| 11 |
| declares such persons ineligible for the Global War on |
| 12 |
| Terrorism Expeditionary Medal or the Global War on Terrorism |
| 13 |
| Service Medal is entitled to receive compensation of $100 for |
| 14 |
| such service if (i) he or she had been a resident of the State |
| 15 |
| of Illinois for at least 12 months immediately preceding the |
| 16 |
| time he or she entered such service, (ii) he or she is still in |
| 17 |
| active service, is honorably separated or discharged from such |
| 18 |
| service, has been furloughed to a reserve, or has been retired, |
| 19 |
| and (iii) he or she has received the Global War on Terrorism |
| 20 |
| Expeditionary Medal, or the Global War on Terrorism Service |
| 21 |
| Medal, the Afghanistan Campaign Medal, or the Iraq Campaign |
| 22 |
| Medal. |
