| AMENDMENT TO SENATE BILL 3506

| AMENDMENT NO. ______. Amend Senate Bill 3506 on page 3, by |

| replacing lines 9 through 18 with the following: |

| "(d) Repair estimates. A person who rents a motor vehicle |
| 5 |
| to another may not collect or attempt to collect the amount |
| 6 |
| described in subsection (b) unless the rental company (i) |
| 7 |
| obtains an estimate from a repair company or an appraiser in |
| 8 |
| the business of providing such appraisals on the costs of |
| 9 |
| repairing the motor vehicle, (ii) makes a copy of the estimate |
| 10 |
| available upon request to the renter who may be liable under |
| 11 |
| subsection (a), or the insurer of the renter, if known by the |
| 12 |
| rental company, or both, and (iii) submits a copy of the |
| 13 |
| estimate with any claim to collect the amount described in |
| 14 |
| subsection (b). If the estimate of the repair exceeds $3,500, |
| 15 |
| then prior to any repairs being initiated, the renter or the |
| 16 |
| insurer of renter shall be allowed 72 hours from the date of |
| 17 |
| notice to inspect the damaged vehicle and obtain another |
| 18 |
| estimate of repair on the damaged vehicle.".
