    AMENDMENT NO. ______. Amend Senate Bill 3522 by replacing

everything after the enacting clause with the following:

    "Section 5. The School Code is amended by changing

34-83.1 as follows:

    (105 ILCS 5/34-83.1)  (from Ch. 122, par. 34-83.1)

    Sec. 34-83.1. Residence requirements.   Residency within 
8
any school district
governed by this Article, if not required 
9
at the time of employment as a
qualification of employment,

shall not be considered in determining the
employment or the

11
compensation of a teacher or whether to retain, promote, 
12
assign, or
transfer
that teacher.

    (30 ILCS 805/8.34 new)

    Sec. 8.34. Exempt mandate. Notwithstanding Sections 6 and 8

of this Act, no reimbursement by the State is required for the

implementation of any mandate created by this amendatory Act of

the 96th General Assembly.".
