Amends the Medical Practice Act of 1987. Notwithstanding any other provision of the Act, provides that a person's license under the Act shall be deemed suspended by operation of law upon the filing of an indictment, complaint, or information that charges the person with a violent or sexual crime. Provides that the license shall remain suspended until the criminal proceedings have concluded. Effective immediately.

| AN ACT concerning professional regulation.

| Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
|
3 |
| represented in the General Assembly:
|

| Section 5. The Medical Practice Act of 1987 is amended by |
5 |
| adding Section 22.7 as follows: |
6 |
| (5 ILCS 5/22.7 new) |

| Sec. 22.7. Suspension of license for violent or sexual |
8 |
| crime. Notwithstanding any other provision of this Act, a |
9 |
| person's license under this Act shall be deemed suspended by |
10 |
| operation of law upon the filing of an indictment, complaint, |
11 |
| or information that charges the person with a violent or sexual |
12 |
| crime. The license shall remain suspended until the criminal |
13 |
| proceedings have concluded.

| Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon |
15 |
| becoming law.
