| 2 | | AMENDMENT NO. ______. Amend Senate Bill 3976, on page 4, |
| 3 | | immediately below line 2, by inserting the following:

| 4 | | "If a committee favorably reports a redistricting plan, |
| 5 | | then the committee shall, prior to passage, conduct at least |
| 6 | | one final hearing in each of 4 distinct geographic regions |
| 7 | | previously determined by the committee in order to receive |
| 8 | | testimony and inform the public of the proposed Districts. All |
| 9 | | hearings of a committee shall be open to the public. The |
| 10 | | Chairperson shall, no later than 2 days before any proposed |
| 11 | | hearing, post a notice with the Secretary of the Senate or |
| 12 | | Clerk of the House, as applicable. The notice shall identify |
| 13 | | any measure and subject matter that may be considered during |
| 14 | | that hearing. The notice shall contain the day, hour, and place |
| 15 | | of the hearing. As soon as practical, the General Assembly |
| 16 | | shall make available to the public all federal decennial census |
| 17 | | data it receives from the federal government and any other data |
