| SENATE JOINT RESOLUTION

| WHEREAS, Fishing is a vital industry in the State of |
| 3 |
| Illinois, from the small lakes of downstate Illinois to Lake |
| 4 |
| Michigan; the tourism created from fishing destinations like |
| 5 |
| Carlyle Lake also generate revenue for the citizens of this |
| 6 |
| State; and
|
| 7 |
| WHEREAS, The Illinois High School Association has made |
| 8 |
| Illinois the first state to have bass fishing officially |
| 9 |
| sanctioned as a high school sport; the first official high |
| 10 |
| school bass fishing State finals will held at Carlyle Lake in |
| 11 |
| Carlyle, Illinois' largest in-land lake, on May 8 and 9, 2009; |
| 12 |
| and
|
| 13 |
| WHEREAS, In order to help promote the Bass Fishing Finals, |
| 14 |
| the City of Carlyle is organizing the Bass Celebration & |
| 15 |
| Fishing Expo, which will include fishing booths, food, and |
| 16 |
| entertainment for the general public; therefore, be it
|
| 17 |
| RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL |
| 18 |
| ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES |
| 19 |
| CONCURRING HEREIN, that we designate the month of May 2009 as |
| 20 |
| High School Bass Fishing Month in the State of Illinois in |
| 21 |
| recognition of the importance of bass fishing to the State of |
| 22 |
| Illinois; and be it further
