| WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
3 |
| learn of the death of
Lillian Murrell Sharp Reed; and
|
4 |
| WHEREAS, Lillian Reed was was born on September 4, 1923 in |
5 |
| Chicago; her parents were Earle Sue (Trotter) and Leon Sharp; |
6 |
| and
|
7 |
| WHEREAS, Lillian Reed received her formal education in the |
8 |
| Chicago Public Schools, attending Betsy Ross Elementary and |
9 |
| Englewood High School; along with her deep love of music and |
10 |
| dance, she developed an abiding thirst for knowledge and zest |
11 |
| for traveling and seeing as much of America as the 20th century |
12 |
| would allow, attending the Chicago World's Fair in 1934 and the |
13 |
| New York World's Fairs in 1939 and 1964, as well as driving |
14 |
| cross-country to Los Angeles before the advent of interstate |
15 |
| highways; she was also a voracious reader with a life-long |
16 |
| passion to see the worlds that she read about; and
|
17 |
| WHEREAS, Lillian Reed was preceded in death by her parents; |
18 |
| her sisters, Doris Leona (Sharp) Carter and Ruth Marion Sharp; |
19 |
| and her dedicated companion, Alexander Coles; and
|
20 |
| WHEREAS, Lillian Reed is survived by her son, Thomas |

| Spencer Gary; her daughter-in-law, Evette F. Little; her |
