SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Roderick L. "Rod" Webel of Baylis, who passed away on December 8, 2008; and

WHEREAS, He was born March 3, 1964, in Quincy, to Maurice N. and Mary Eileen Wilson Webel; he married Stacy Carter on September 11, 1993, at the Pittsfield United Methodist Church; and

WHEREAS, Rod was a member of the Detroit Christian Church; he was a John Wood Community College Orr Agriculture Center graduate; his family was named the 1997 Top Farm Family in the Nation; he was the President of the Western Illinois Fair Board, a member of the Griggsville-Perry Board of Education, John Wood Advisory Board, and the Pike County Farm Bureau Board; and

WHEREAS, He was active locally with the Muscular Dystrophy Association, working with the telethon; he enjoyed hunting, traveling (especially cruises), spending time with his family, and working on his farm; and

WHEREAS, He was preceded in death by his parents, Maurice and Mary Webel; and his brother and sister-in-law, Don and Pat Webel; and

WHEREAS, Rod Webel is survived by his wife, Stacy Webel; his sons, Wilson Lee "Will" Webel and Dustin Robert "Dusty" Webel; a special friend, Jessica Funk; his in-laws, Robert and Carol Carter; his brother-in-law, Kirk (Vicky) Carter; his brothers, Max (Kathryn) Webel, Stephen (Janet) Webel, and Gene (Kathy) Webel; his sisters, Mrs. Kay (William) Fugate and Ann Williamson; his aunt, Florence Wilson; several nieces and nephews; as well as several great-nieces and great-nephews; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with his family and friends, the passing of Roderick "Rod" Webel; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Roderick Webel as a symbol of our sincere sympathy.
