| SENATE RESOLUTION

| WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
| 3 |
| learn of the death of James Franklin Quetsch of Geneva, who |
| 4 |
| passed away on January 14, 2009; and
|
| 5 |
| WHEREAS, He was born on November 13, 1933 in Oak Park; he |
| 6 |
| graduated from Oak Park River Forest High School in 1952 and |
| 7 |
| received a bachelor's degree in economics from the University |
| 8 |
| of Notre Dame in South Bend, Indiana, in 1956; he married his |
| 9 |
| high-school sweetheart, Patricia Perrin on September 3, 1956, |
| 10 |
| at St. Giles Catholic Church in Oak Park; and in 1959 he |
| 11 |
| graduated from Chicago Kent Law School; and
|
| 12 |
| WHEREAS, He practiced law in Chicago and the couple lived |
| 13 |
| in Oak Park until 1963 when they moved to West Chicago; that |
| 14 |
| year, he began working for the law firm of Gates Clancy in |
| 15 |
| Geneva; in 1965, he joined the firm of Corrigan & MacKay in |
| 16 |
| Wheaton; he was a successful trial lawyer, and became a partner |
| 17 |
| several years later in the expanded firm of Corrigan & MacKay, |
| 18 |
| Quetsch and O'Reilly; and
|
| 19 |
| WHEREAS, He and Pat moved their family to Geneva in 1972; |
| 20 |
| he was appointed a Kane County Court Associate Judge in 1975 |
| 21 |
| and elected as a full judge in the 16th Circuit Court in 1976; |
| 22 |
| he held the position until 1992, when he became an Illinois |

| Appellate Court Justice in the Second District; he was |
| 2 |
| appointed to the seat by his predecessor, Justice John Nickels, |
| 3 |
| who was elected to the Illinois Supreme Court; and
|
| 4 |
| WHEREAS, Following his retirement in 1994, Jim traveled |
| 5 |
| extensively with his wife; among their destinations were South |
| 6 |
| America, Israel, and several European countries including his |
| 7 |
| favorite, Ireland; he was a member of the St. Charles |
| 8 |
| Sportsmen's Club in Elburn for more than 20 years, shooting |
| 9 |
| trap and skeet; and
|
| 10 |
| WHEREAS, He was preceded in death by his mother and father, |
| 11 |
| Gertrude (Shea) and Leonard J. Quetsch; and his brothers, |
| 12 |
| Leonard, William, and John; and
|
| 13 |
| WHEREAS, He is survived by his wife, Patricia; his brother, |
| 14 |
| Richard; his sister, Gertrude; his children, Karen Quetsch, |
| 15 |
| Martha Quetsch, Elizabeth Entile, Thomas (Patricia Seastrom |
| 16 |
| Banbury) Quetsch, Paula (Vincent) Giuliano, and James (Jo |
| 17 |
| Martin) Quetsch; his ten grandchildren, Natalie Entile, |
| 18 |
| Phillip and Julie Andersen, Caroline Cagney, Paul, Marie, and |
| 19 |
| Francesca Giuliano, Kyle and Casey Banbury, and Megan (Banbury) |
| 20 |
| Mara; his one great-grandchild, Vincent Mara; and his beloved |
| 21 |
| Vizsla, Maggie; therefore, be it
