SENATE RESOLUTION

    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to  
3
learn of the death of
Richard "Duke" Goodwin of Winthrop 
4
Harbor, who passed away on January 24, 2009; and

 
5
    WHEREAS, Richard Goodwin was a member of Plasterers and 
6
Cement Masons Local 11 of Lake County; and

 
7
    WHEREAS, Richard Goodwin was a member of North Prairie 
8
United Methodist Church and Zion-Benton Moose Lodge #667; and

 
9
    WHEREAS, Richard Goodwin enjoyed all sports and was a 
10
die-hard Chicago Bears and Chicago Cubs fan; he also enjoyed 
11
cooking for his family; and

 
12
    WHEREAS, Richard Goodwin was preceded in death by his 
13
parents, Howard and Francis Goodwin; his brother, Tommy 
14
Goodwin; his sister, Ruth (the late Robert) Humphreys; his 
15
grand-daughter, Erica Ianson; and his nephew, Timothy Goodwin; 
16
and

 
17
    WHEREAS, Richard Goodwin is survived by his wife, Karen; 
18
his daughters, DeAnn (Van) Weber, Linda (Bob) Paar, and Karin 
19
(Mike) Jasinkski; his brothers, Charles (Mary) Goodwin and 
20
Howard (Kathy) Goodwin; his sister, Virginia Goodwin Benson;

his grandchildren, Kyle, Ashley, Brandon, Eric, Caleb, and Ivy; 
2
and his great-grandchildren, Alexis, Elijah, and Landon;

therefore, be it

    RESOLVED, BY THE  SENATE OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL 
5
ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with 
6
his family and friends, the passing of Richard "Duke" Goodwin; 
7
and be it further

 
8
    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
9
presented to the family of Richard Goodwin as an expression of 
10
our sympathy.
