SENATE RESOLUTION

    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to 
3
learn of the death of Elder Carl Edwin Prude, Sr. of East St. 
4
Louis, who passed away on January 21, 2009; and

 
5
    WHEREAS, Elder Carl Edwin Prude, Sr. graduated from East 
6
St. Louis Lincoln Senior High with Honors in 1950; he graduated 
7
from Universal Business College in East St. Louis; he graduated 
8
with an Associate's Degree from State Community College East 
9
St. Louis; and he graduated with a Bachelor's Degree from 
10
Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville; and

 
11
    WHEREAS, He received an honorable discharge from The United 
12
States Army, having served during the Korean Conflict; and

 
13
    WHEREAS, He retired from the United States Post Office as a 
14
Clerk; and

 
15
    WHEREAS, Elder Prude was the former Pastor of the Church of 
16
God In Christ Congregation in East St. Louis; and  he was the 
17
founding Pastor of the Bride Of Christ Church of God In Christ, 
18
also in East St. Louis; and

 
19
    WHEREAS, Elder Carl Prude is  survived by his wife of more 
20
than 55 years, Lillie B (nee Lewis) Prude; he was the father of

8 children, Avis, Carl Jr., Mark, Vian, Lili, Dona, Paul, and 
2
Dwan; and he was the grandfather and great-grandfather of many; 
3
therefore, be it

    RESOLVED, BY THE  SENATE OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL 
5
ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with 
6
his friends, family, and congregation, the passing of Elder 
7
Carl Edwin Prude, Sr.; and be it further

 
8
    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
9
presented to the family of Elder Carl Edwin Prude, Sr. as a 
10
symbol of our sincere sympathy.
