SENATE RESOLUTION


 
2
    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to 
3
learn of the death of Kathleen Jane Ash of St. Louis, Missouri, 
4
who passed away on January 26, 2009; and

 
5
    WHEREAS, She was born on November 10, 1952, in Batesville, 
6
Arkansas, to Lawrence and Marcella Evans; on June 2, 1978, she 
7
married William (Bill) B. Ash of Alton; and

 
8
    WHEREAS, She attended East Alton-Wood River High School and 
9
graduated from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville in 
10
1974, majoring in English; she was the editor of Guitar Notes 
11
for the Saint Louis Classical Guitar Society, with additional 
12
responsibilities in graphic design, grant writing, and 
13
organizational planning; since 1980, she worked side by side 
14
with her husband, who serves as president for the society;
and

 
15
    WHEREAS,
She was preceded in death by her father, who 
16
passed away in 1988; and

 
17
    WHEREAS, She was loved by all and was known for her passion 
18
for life; she was a lover of every type of animal, and will be 
19
missed dearly by her husband, two cats, and a new puppy; and
 

20
    WHEREAS, In addition to her husband, she is survived by her

mother; five siblings and three spouses, Lawrence Evans, M.D. 
2
and his wife, Ginger, Donald Evans, Rosemary and Martin 
3
Sammartano, Gwen Dwiggins, and Ruth and John Dwiggins; 
4
therefore, be it

    RESOLVED, BY THE  SENATE OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL 
6
ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with 
7
her family and friends, the passing of Kathleen Ash; and be it 
8
further

 
9
    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
10
presented to the family of Kathleen Ash as a symbol of our 
11
sincere sympathy.
