| 1 | SENATE RESOLUTION
| ||||||
| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | ||||||
| 3 | learn of the death of
Judith Drury of Winthrop Harbor, who | ||||||
| 4 | passed away on January 4, 2009; and
| ||||||
| 5 | WHEREAS, Judith Drury was born in Winona, Minnesota on | ||||||
| 6 | September 24, 1942; she was the first child of Lambert J. and | ||||||
| 7 | Cecilia A. (Wiersgalla) Hamerski; and
| ||||||
| 8 | WHEREAS, Judith Drury attended St. Stanislaus Grade | ||||||
| 9 | School, Cotter High School, and St. Teresa College in Winona; | ||||||
| 10 | she interned as a social worker for the Diocese of Winona for | ||||||
| 11 | one year; and
| ||||||
| 12 | WHEREAS, In 1964, Judith Drury started her first job, | ||||||
| 13 | working for Catholic Charities of Chicago in the Lake County | ||||||
| 14 | Office in downtown Waukegan; she was also employed with Sellke & | ||||||
| 15 | Reily Orthodontics in Grayslake; that same year, she met her | ||||||
| 16 | future husband, Daniel P. Drury, while both were teaching CCD | ||||||
| 17 | at Immaculate Conception Church in Waukegan; they were united | ||||||
| 18 | in marriage on October 28, 1967 at the Cathedral of the Sacred | ||||||
| 19 | Heart in Winona; together, they have two children, Patrick J. | ||||||
| 20 | (Sara) Drury and Joyce E. (Jaime) Rosen; and
| ||||||
| 21 | WHEREAS, Judith Drury was a community-minded individual | ||||||
| |||||||
| |||||||
| 1 | who volunteered for various organizations, including Star | ||||||
| 2 | Hospice, AAUW Nursery School, Oakdale and Cook Magnet Schools | ||||||
| 3 | in Waukegan, and St. Joseph High School in Kenosha; she also | ||||||
| 4 | served two years as President of the P.E.O. (Philanthropic | ||||||
| 5 | Educational Organization) International; she was also | ||||||
| 6 | concerned with environmental issues and worked tirelessly to | ||||||
| 7 | preserve the world around her; and
| ||||||
| 8 | WHEREAS, At Saint Mary Catholic Church in Kenosha, Judith | ||||||
| 9 | Drury ministered as a Greeter, served on the Stewardship | ||||||
| 10 | Committee, and attended Bible study and Adoration; and | ||||||
| 11 | WHEREAS, Judith Drury will be sadly missed by her | ||||||
| 12 | grandchildren, Seth Matthew and Lily Katherine Rosen, Kelsey | ||||||
| 13 | and Sydney Rosen, and Celia Rose and Kira Jane Drury; she is | ||||||
| 14 | also survived by her sister, Nancy (William) Lambert; her | ||||||
| 15 | brother, Michael (Susan) Hamerski; and her nieces and nephews, | ||||||
| 16 | Kristine Lambert, Anthony (Lorie) Lambert, Jennifer | ||||||
| 17 | Lambert-Smith (Brad), and Madeleine and Samuel Hamerski; | ||||||
| 18 | therefore, be it

| 19 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL | ||||||
| 20 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with | ||||||
| 21 | her family and friends, the passing of Judith Drury; and be it | ||||||
| 22 | further

| 2 | presented to the family of Judith Drury as an expression of our | ||||||
