| WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |

| learn of the death in Kirkush, Iraq, of
United States Army |
| 4 |
| Specialist Christopher P. Sweet of Springfield, who passed away |
| 5 |
| on February 6, 2009; and
|
| 6 |
| WHEREAS, Spc. Christopher Sweet was born on February 6, |
| 7 |
| 1981 in San Jose, California; he was the son of Peter and |
| 8 |
| Christina Slyngsted Sweet; and
|
| 9 |
| WHEREAS, Spc. Christopher Sweet was a graduate of Maui High |
| 10 |
| School in Hawaii; and
|
| 11 |
| WHEREAS, Spc. Christopher Sweet was serving with the United |
| 12 |
| States Army; he was assigned to the 3rd Battalion, 66th Armor |
| 13 |
| Regiment, 172nd Separate Infantry Brigade based in |
| 14 |
| Grafenwoehr, Germany, where he served as a heavy vehicle |
| 15 |
| operator and training specialist; and
|
| 16 |
| WHEREAS, Spc. Christopher Sweet was a member of the |
| 17 |
| National Rifle Association; and |
| 18 |
| WHEREAS, Spc. Christopher Sweet was preceded in death by |
| 19 |
| his grandparents, Harding Sweet, Grace Curtiss, and Courtney |
| 20 |
| Slyngsted; his uncles, Michael Sweet and Robert Slyngsted; and |
|

| his aunt, Nina Andersen; and
|

| WHEREAS, Spc. Christopher Sweet is survived by his parents, |

| Peter Sweet and Christina Sweet; his brothers, Kyle Sweet and |
| 4 |
| Nathan Slyngsted; his sister, Zether Sweet; his grandmother, |
| 5 |
| Mary Neilsen; his uncles, Jay Sweet, Courtney Slyngsted, Mike |
| 6 |
| Slyngsted, Danny Slyngsted, and Curtis Slyngsted; his aunts, |
| 7 |
| Joey Wood, Genell Hinds, Julie, and Kim; and his several |
| 8 |
| cousins, including Kevin Slyngsted, who is also serving in the |
| 9 |
| U.S. Army; therefore, be it
|

| RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL |
| 11 |
| ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with |
| 12 |
| his family and friends, the passing of United States Army |
| 13 |
| Specialist Christopher P. Sweet; and be it further
|
| 14 |
| RESOLVED, That we honor the memory of Spc. Christopher |
| 15 |
| Sweet and his willingness to serve our country, which led to |
| 16 |
| him making the ultimate sacrifice; and be it further |
| 17 |
| RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
| 18 |
| presented to the family of Spc. Christopher Sweet as an |
| 19 |
| expression of our sympathy.
