SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3 learn of the death of Joseph Bernard Kristan of North Chicago,
4 who passed away on February 18, 2009; and
 
5     WHEREAS, He was born May 19, 1912 in North Chicago, to
6 Herman and Elizabeth (nee Fincutter) Kristan; he graduated from
7 Waukegan Township High School in 1930 and Walton School of
8 Commerce, Chicago in 1931; and
 
9     WHEREAS, He was employed by the United States Postal
10 Service in North Chicago from 1937-1967; he later worked for
11 the Building and Zoning Department for Lake County and was a
12 member of the Lake County Zoning Board of Appeals for many
13 years; and
 
14     WHEREAS, He was a resident of North Chicago, Nalcrest,
15 Florida, Branson, Missouri, and returned to Lake County in
16 2000; he was a veteran of World War II as a member of the United
17 States Navy; he was also a member of the Knights of Columbus
18 Council #731 in Waukegan, where he served as Grand Knight in
19 1958 and 1959 and Navigator of the 4th Degree of Bishop Quarter
20 General Assembly, Knights of Columbus of Lake County in 1957
21 and 1958; he was a member of the American Legion Sharvin Post
22 #397 in North Chicago, a member of the National Association of

1 Letter Carriers, Waukegan Council #409, and a charter member of
2 the Navy Mail Service Veterans Association; and
 
3     WHEREAS, He was preceded in death by his first wife,
4 Vivian; his second wife, Mary Alice; his son, Kevin; and his
5 sisters, Agnes Kutzler Mahler and Rita Madruh; and
 
6     WHEREAS, Joseph Kristan is survived by his children, Jo Ann
7 Wilde, Lynette Fuerst, Cheryl Campbell, Joseph (Judie), Thomas
8 (Jo Ann), Therese (Lawrence) Stickler, Michelle (Robert)
9 Wysiatko, and Jeffrey; his sister, Bernice Bittner, his
10 brothers-in-law, Bob (Rosalie) and Bill (Jean) Campbell; his
11 twenty grandchildren; his eleven great-grandchildren; and his
12 many nieces and nephews; therefore, be it
 
13     RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL
14 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
15 his family and friends, the passing of Joseph B. Kristan; and
16 be it further
 
17     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
18 presented to the family of Joseph Kristan as a symbol of our
19 sincere sympathy.
