SENATE RESOLUTION

    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to  
3
learn of the death of
David L. Evans, who passed away on March 
4
25, 2009; and

 
5
    WHEREAS, David Evans was born in Chicago; he moved to 
6
Joliet, where he graduated from Joliet Township High School 
7
with the Class of 1960; he then attended the University of 
8
Illinois and graduated from DePaul University; and

 
9
    WHEREAS, David Evans retired after a long career as an 
10
accountant with Commonwealth Edison; and

 
11
    WHEREAS, David Evans was a member of numerous community 
12
groups; he was a member of the Grade School Board for over 30 
13
years; he was a board member of Guardian Angel Home and the 
14
Unity Community Development Corporation; he was a 
15
representative of Will County Board District 8; he was chairman 
16
and a co-founder of the Black Pride Parade; he served as a 
17
coordinator for the Will County Primary and General Election 
18
Get-Out-To-Vote initiative; he was also a member of Mt. Zion 
19
Baptist Church; and

 
20
    WHEREAS, David Evans is survived by his wife, Rosie; his 
21
children, Debra L. Payton, Cathe R. (Daniel) Evans, David M.

Evans, and Shellye N. Evans; his step-daughter, Dana (Carlos) 
2
Matlock; his 24 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; and 
3
his many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends; therefore, be 
4
it

    RESOLVED, BY THE  SENATE OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL 
6
ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with 
7
his family and friends, the passing of David L. Evans; and be 
8
it further

 
9
    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
10
presented to the family of David Evans as an expression of our 
11
sympathy.
