| SENATE RESOLUTION

| WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
| 3 |
| learn of the death of Father Andrew J. Wahmhoff, O.S.B., of |
| 4 |
| Aurora, who passed away April 10, 2009; and
|
| 5 |
| WHEREAS, Father Andrew was the second of 12 children born |
| 6 |
| to Carl Wahmhoff and Mildred (Hessling);
Father Andrew was born |
| 7 |
| December 19, 1931, and was baptized with the name of John at |
| 8 |
| St. Margaret Church, Otsego, Michigan; and
|
| 9 |
| WHEREAS, He followed his older brother to St. Meinrad Minor |
| 10 |
| seminary in 1946; he professed vows as a monk of Marmion Abbey |
| 11 |
| on August 10, 1953, taking the name of Andrew; Father Andrew |
| 12 |
| was ordained to the priesthood on May 3, 1958; and
|
| 13 |
| WHEREAS, The list of jobs that Father Andrew faithfully and |
| 14 |
| skillfully fulfilled for the abbey and academy communities over |
| 15 |
| the years is endless; he is best remembered as a Latin master |
| 16 |
| teacher of State champions for more than 47 years; a dormitory |
| 17 |
| prefect and commandant of cadets; the "red farmer" of Christmas |
| 18 |
| trees; bus driver; grass cutter; and player of golf, baseball, |
| 19 |
| hockey, tennis, hand ball, and any other game that he could |
| 20 |
| try; but his brother monks best remember him as a man of |
| 21 |
| prayer, principles, and deep devotion and service to his |
| 22 |
| Marmion community; and
