SENATE RESOLUTION

    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to  
3
learn of the death of
Donna C. Lakin of Carlinville, who passed 
4
away on April 29, 2009; and

 
5
    WHEREAS, Donna Lakin was born on May 19, 1936, in 
6
Carlinville; she was the daughter of the late James and Hazel 
7
(Elkington) Karrick; she married Barry W. Lakin on February 14, 
8
1981 in Carlinville; and

 
9
    WHEREAS, Donna Lakin graduated from Carlinville High 
10
School with the Class of 1954; she was employed as a Certified 
11
Nursing Assistant and unit clerk for Carlinville Area Hospital 
12
until 1986; and

 
13
    WHEREAS, Donna Lakin was a member of the Carlinville 
14
Southern Baptist Church; she served as the secretary to the 
15
Macoupin County Republican Central Committee; she also served 
16
as an election judge; and

 
17
    WHEREAS, Donna Lakin was preceded in death by her 
18
grandchildren, Jeremiah Costello, Jamie Lynn Neely, Nathan 
19
Rettig, and Mandy Lee Eddleman; and her three brothers and two 
20
sisters; and

    WHEREAS, Donna Lakin is survived by her husband; her son, 
2
Stephen Springman (Teresa); her daughters, Katheryn Stroup 
3
(Kenneth), Carol Ann Gazda (fiance, Dan Dawning), Deborah Lynn 
4
Lockwood (Kirk), and Lisa Gay Springman (companion, Russell 
5
Jones), and Carrie L. Lakin; her son, Michael James Springman 
6
(Shirley); her 27 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren, and 4 
7
great-great-grandchildren; her sisters, Thelma Barnes, Betty 
8
Bouillon, and Janet Rady; and her brother, Lyndall Karrick; 
9
therefore, be it

 
10
    RESOLVED, BY THE  SENATE OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL 
11
ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with 
12
her family and friends, the passing of Donna C. Lakin; and be 
13
it further

 
14
    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
15
presented to the family of Donna Lakin as an expression of our 
16
sympathy.
