SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Linwood W. Turley of Carlinville, who passed away on May 2, 2009; and

WHEREAS, He was born August 14, 1943, in Festus, Missouri, the son of the late Roy Linwood Turley and the late Verble Evelyn (Wallace) Turley; he married Doris Elaine Morse in the Carlinville United Methodist Church on February 16, 1968; and

WHEREAS, He graduated from Festus High School in 1961, and St. Louis College of Pharmacy in 1966; he was a Registered Pharmacist for Sullivan Drugs in Carlinville since 1966; and

WHEREAS, He was a member of Carlinville United Methodist Church; he loved spending time with his grandchildren, enjoyed fishing, and model trains; he was in the Carlinville Lions Club for 25+ years, a member of the Illinois Pharmaceutical Association, and a past member of First Baptist Church in Festus/Crystal City, Missouri, until he moved to Carlinville in 1966; and

WHEREAS, He was a Boy Scout of America Eagle Scout; he was an assistant scoutmaster for BSA Troop 62 in Carlinville, and later a District Commissioner for the Abraham Lincoln Council; and he was a 10-year board member and past president (2006) of the Central Macoupin County Rural Water District; and

WHEREAS, He was preceded in death by Willis Turley, who passed away in infancy; and

WHEREAS, Linwood Turley is survived by his wife, Elaine Turley; his son, Mathew Turley (Erica); his sister, Virginia R. Sapp; and his three grandchildren; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with his family and friends, the passing of Linwood Turley; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Linwood W. Turley as a symbol of our sincere sympathy.
