SENATE RESOLUTION

    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to  
3
learn of the death of
Lawrence W. Powers of Alton, who passed 
4
away on May 2, 2009; and

 
5
    WHEREAS, Lawrence Powers was born in Alton; he was the son 
6
of Lawrence William and Elizabeth (Fulkerson) Powers; he 
7
married Sharon (Hanerhoff) Johnson on January 13, 2002 in Las 
8
Vegas, Nevada; and

 
9
    WHEREAS, Lawrence Powers and his wife enjoyed working at 
10
their office, Practical Rehab Services, with their employees 
11
and clients; and

 
12
    WHEREAS, Lawrence Powers was a member of the Alton Godfrey 
13
Rotary Club and the Alton Road Runners; he was a tri-athlete 
14
and loved to play softball; he also loved working, being 
15
outside in his yard and garden, and going dancing with his 
16
wife; and

 
17
    WHEREAS, Lawrence Powers was preceded in death by his 
18
parents; his sister, Gail Widaman; and his half-sisters, 
19
Margaret Shirley and Isal Thompson; and

 
20
    WHEREAS, Lawrence Powers is survived by his wife; his four

stepsons; his seven grandchildren; and his sister and 
2
brother-in-law, Jackie and Ron Donelson; therefore, be it

 
3
    RESOLVED, BY THE  SENATE OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL 
4
ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with 
5
his family and friends, the passing of Lawrence W. Powers; and 
6
be it further

 
7
    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
8
presented to the family of Lawrence Powers as an expression of 
9
our sympathy.
