| SENATE RESOLUTION

| WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
| 3 |
| learn of the death of Joseph W. Hubbard of O'Fallon, who passed |
| 4 |
| away on April 9, 2009; and
|
| 5 |
| WHEREAS, Joseph W. Hubbard was born April 3, 1926 in |
| 6 |
| O'Fallon; he graduated from O'Fallon Township High School in |
| 7 |
| 1944; after graduation, he enlisted in the United States Navy |
| 8 |
| and fought during World War II, receiving several medals; after |
| 9 |
| returning from the war, he married Betty Whitehead in June of |
| 10 |
| 1947; and
|
| 11 |
| WHEREAS, He served as a Justice of the Peace for 8 years, |
| 12 |
| Alderman from 1969 to 1977, and a Township Trustee from 1957 to |
| 13 |
| 1977 and 2005 to the present; and
|
| 14 |
| WHEREAS, He was a founding and charter member of the |
| 15 |
| O'Fallon Jaycees; as a Jaycee, he helped start O'Fallon's first |
| 16 |
| little league baseball league, as well as coached for many |
| 17 |
| years; he was a lifelong member of First United Methodist |
| 18 |
| Church of O'Fallon, a member of the O'Fallon Sesquicentennial |
| 19 |
| Committee, a 50-year member of the Masons, Scottish Rite and |
| 20 |
| Shriners, a lifetime member of both the O'Fallon Sportsman Club |
| 21 |
| and American Legion, a charter and founding member of both the |
| 22 |
| Shiloh Valley Bassmasters and O'Fallon Bass Casters, a member |
