SENATE RESOLUTION


 
2
    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to  
3
learn of the death of
Laura N. Peterson of Aurora, who passed 
4
away on May 10, 2009; and

 
5
    WHEREAS, Laura Peterson was born on October 29, 1948 in 
6
Chicago; she married her high school sweetheart and best 
7
friend, Lee M. Peterson, on August 16, 1969; and

 
8
    WHEREAS, Laura Peterson was a graduate of Maine West High 
9
School in Des Plaines; she attended Valparaiso University and 
10
graduated from Northern Illinois University with a degree in 
11
education; and

 
12
    WHEREAS, Laura Peterson taught 4th and 5th grade for many 
13
years in Naperville School District #203; she also served as a 
14
Principal at Elmwood Elementary School and most recently at 
15
River Woods Elementary School; she had a love of education and 
16
always put the needs of her students first; and

 
17
    WHEREAS, Laura Peterson loved traveling, playing golf, 
18
reading, bike riding, playing bridge, gardening, and being a 
19
member of PEO; she loved and cherished her time spent at her 
20
country homes in Galena and Anna Maria Island, Florida with her 
21
husband, Lee, and their family; she also dearly loved playing

with and enjoying her loving grandchildren; and

 
2
    WHEREAS, Laura Peterson was the beloved mother of Sandy 
3
(Ron) Golminas and Julie (Jeff) Clifford; the adored "Grammy" 
4
of Jack and Matthew Golminas and Wade and Megan Clifford; the 
5
devoted daughter of Carol (nee Highfield) Nelson and the late 
6
Clifford Nelson; the dear sister of Larry (Sue) Nelson, Mark 
7
(Carolyne) Nelson, and Patty (Greg) Morin; the fond aunt of 
8
Tim, Meredith, Annika, Kyle, Andy, and Diana; and the dear 
9
sister-in-law of Judee Peterson; therefore, be it

 
10
    RESOLVED, BY THE  SENATE OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL 
11
ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with 
12
her family and friends, the passing of Laura N. Peterson; and 
13
be it further

 
14
    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
15
presented to the family of Laura Peterson as an expression of 
16
our sympathy.
