SENATE RESOLUTION


 
2
    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to  
3
learn of the death of
James B. Knott of Mascoutah, who passed 
4
away on July 15, 2009; and

 
5
    WHEREAS, James Knott was born on April 30, 1942 in 
6
Champaign; his parents were Hiram and Marian Knott; he married 
7
Patricia M. Wickham on July 10, 1966 in Enterprise; and

 
8
    WHEREAS, James Knott served his country with pride and 
9
distinction as a member of the United States Army during the 
10
Vietnam War; and
 
11
    WHEREAS, James Knott retired after serving as a teacher and 
12
athletic director at Mascoutah Community High School from 1972 
13
to 1997; he also served as the PGA golf professional at Far 
14
Oaks Golf Club in Fairview Heights, where he was known as one 
15
of the top teaching pros in the area and had many loyal 
16
students; and

 
17
    WHEREAS, James Knott was a member of the Bethel United 
18
Methodist Church in Mascoutah and the Anthony Doherty Masonic 
19
Lodge 1111 in Cisne; and

 
20
    WHEREAS, James Knott was preceded in death by his parents;

    WHEREAS, James Knott is survived by his wife, Patricia; his 
3
daughter, Jodi (Eric) Knott-Zilafro; his grandchildren, 
4
Allison, Alex, and Luke Zilafro; his brother, Jack (Barbara) 
5
Knott; his brother-in-law, Tom (Linda) Wickham; and his many 
6
nieces and nephews; therefore, be it

 
7
    RESOLVED, BY THE  SENATE OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL 
8
ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with 
9
his family and friends, the passing of James B. Knott; and be 
10
it further

 
11
    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
12
presented to the family of James Knott as an expression of our 
13
sympathy.
