| SENATE RESOLUTION

| WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
| 3 |
| learn of the death of Edward P. Morrissey of Chicago, who |
| 4 |
| passed away on August 2, 2009; and
|
| 5 |
| WHEREAS, He was a 1961 graduate of Loyola Academy in |
| 6 |
| Wilmette, where he distinguished himself as an all around |
| 7 |
| student and athlete and co-captain of the football team; at age |
| 8 |
| eighteen, right after high school, he joined the Jesuit Society |
| 9 |
| of Jesus from 1961 to 1968; during his time in the Jesuit |
| 10 |
| seminary at Milford, Ohio, he obtained a bachelor degree in |
| 11 |
| Classics (Latin and Greek) and he taught English and Sociology |
| 12 |
| at St. Xavier High School and coached soccer; and
|
| 13 |
| WHEREAS, He graduated from Boston College in 1967 with a |
| 14 |
| degree in Philosophy; he received his Juris Doctor in 1974 from |
| 15 |
| Creighton University Law School in Omaha, Nebraska; he |
| 16 |
| practiced law in Elmhurst and was a Cook County Assistant |
| 17 |
| State's Attorney before marrying Elsie (Campbell) in 1984; he |
| 18 |
| practiced family law in Sandwich for 22 years and will be |
| 19 |
| remembered as an honest, hard working lawyer; and
|
| 20 |
| WHEREAS, In 1994, he ran for Circuit Court Judge for the |
| 21 |
| 16th Judicial Circuit and for De Kalb County State's Attorney |

| in 1996; in 2006, he made a career change to teach Latin at |
