SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Paul Cope of Alton, who passed away on September 21, 2009; and

WHEREAS, Paul Cope was born on September 2, 1925 in Otterville; he was the son of Lester and Blanche (Price) Cope; he married the former Helen Beuschel on May 5, 1950 at the Otterville Baptist Church in Otterville; and

WHEREAS, Paul Cope worked for McLain Trucking for over 40 years; he enjoyed the adventures of being an over-the-road trucker; and

WHEREAS, Paul Cope was a member of the First United Methodist Church in East Alton, where he ushered and enjoyed playing softball; he particularly enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren; and

WHEREAS, Paul Cope was preceded in death by his wife, Helen; his parents; his brothers, Leslie Cope, Mark Cope, and Clyde Cope; and his sister, Marian Cope; and

WHEREAS, Paul Cope is survived by his daughters, Leslie Hill and Mona Davis; his grandchildren, Keith Barrow, Rebecca Hill, and Chad Barrow; his great-grandson, David Jeffrey Hill; and his sister, Gladys Drainer; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with his family and friends, the passing of Paul Cope; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Paul Cope as an expression of our sympathy.
