SENATE RESOLUTION

    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to  
3
learn of the death of
Percy LaVelle Day, who passed away on 
4
September 25, 2009; and

 
5
    WHEREAS, Percy Day was born on May 21, 1992; his parents 
6
were Percy Day Jr. and Gertrude Day; and

 
7
    WHEREAS, Percy Day was a high schooler in the  Chicago 
8
Public School system; he also attended the Devry University 
9
Achiever's Academy and planned to earn a degree in business 
10
administration from the University of Michigan; and

 
11
    WHEREAS, Percy Day enjoyed playing football and 
12
basketball; he also enjoyed  playing and listening to music; and

 
13
    WHEREAS, Percy Day worked as a food service worker at 
14
Elmhurst Memorial Hospital for a year; he also served an a Team 
15
Officiator at After School Matters for 2 years; and

 
16
    WHEREAS, Percy Day attended the Salem Baptist Church in 
17
Chicago; he gave his life to Christ at an early age and 
18
believed in Jesus Christ; and

 
19
    WHEREAS, Percy Day was a volunteer with numerous civic and

educational organizations, including the North Lawndale YMCA 
2
and Gregory Elementary School; and
 
3
    WHEREAS, Percy Day is survived by his parents; his 
4
brothers, Pierre and Paul Day; his sisters, Chiquita and 
5
LaShawn Day; and his niece, Ja'Mya Waters; therefore, be it

 
6
    RESOLVED, BY THE  SENATE OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL 
7
ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with 
8
his family and friends, the passing of Percy LaVelle Day; and 
9
be it further

 
10
    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
11
presented to the family of Percy Day as an expression of our 
12
sympathy.
