SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Dean "Dino" Granger of Waukegan, who passed away on August 30, 2009; and

WHEREAS, Dean Granger was born on January 20, 1934, in Waukegan; he graduated from Waukegan Township High School in 1951; and

WHEREAS, Dean Granger retired from U.S. Steel in 1979 after 30 years of employment; he then retired from the City of Waukegan Public Works Department in 1999 after 17 years of employment; he was also a former Secretary of the American Steel Workers Club; and

WHEREAS, Dean Granger was heavily involved with Waukegan Youth Baseball as a past President of the Waukegan Pony League and as a youth baseball coach at all levels; he was also a member of the Zion Moose #667; he enjoyed golfing and watching the St. Louis Cardinals and Green Bay Packers; and

WHEREAS, Dean Granger was preceded in death by his parents, John and Dorothy Granger; his sister, Sharon Poulos; and his niece, Valerie; and

WHEREAS, Dean Granger is survived by his wife of 53 years, Katherine "Kay" Granger; his son, Tom (Jennifer) Granger; his daughter, Dina (Eli) Cruz; his granddaughters, Amanda, Ashley, and Arin Granger; his great-grandchildren, Jaedon and Kaylen Granger; his brother, John (Isabel) Granger; his special cousin, Charlie (Janet) Cerk; his many cousins; his brother-in-law, Steve (Carol) Poulos; his numerous nieces and nephews; and his loyal companion, Tex; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with his family and friends, the passing of Dean "Dino" Granger; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Dean Granger as an expression of our sympathy.
