| SENATE RESOLUTION
|

| WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
| 3 |
| learn of the death of
O.T. Buster, who passed away on July 29, |
| 4 |
| 2007; and
|
| 5 |
| WHEREAS, O.T. Buster was born on August 9, 1920 in McGhee, |
| 6 |
| Arkansas; her parents were Minister Alonzo and Estelle Smith; |
| 7 |
| and
|
| 8 |
| WHEREAS, O.T. Buster was formerly employed as a beautician, |
| 9 |
| a designer, a presser, a nursing assistant, and an |
| 10 |
| entrepreneur; and
|
| 11 |
| WHEREAS, O.T. Buster was well known for her thirst for |
| 12 |
| education; she graduated with honors from Harold Washington |
| 13 |
| College in Chicago, earning her degree in early childhood |
| 14 |
| education in 2002; and
|
| 15 |
| WHEREAS, O.T. Buster was a member of Tyree Temple Methodist |
| 16 |
| Church and was a member of the church's choir; and |
| 17 |
| WHEREAS, O.T. Buster enjoyed making arts and crafts, |
| 18 |
| singing, poetry, cooking, and fishing; and |
| 19 |
| WHEREAS, O.T. Buster was preceded in death by her parents; |

| her brother, James Smith; and her grandson, David Harris; and |

| WHEREAS, O.T. Buster is survived by her sisters, Jessie |

| Cole and Lola Bell Lowe; her daughters, Bettie Harris and |
| 4 |
| Delores Flakes; her grandson, Johnie Flakes, Jr. (Wendy); her |
| 5 |
| great-grandsons, Davon Harris, Julian Flakes, Johnie Flakes |
| 6 |
| III, Isaiah Flakes, Ian Flakes, and Milan Flakes; her nieces |
| 7 |
| and nephews, Diane Hawkins, Joyce Bugg, Craig Burns (Trina), |
| 8 |
| Keith Burns (Kimberly), Nathan Burns, Quenn Miles, James Smith, |
| 9 |
| Brenda Spencer, Linda Spencer, Howard Spencer, Robert Spencer |
| 10 |
| (Mareshia), Bobbie Spencer, Lola Spencer, Andre Miles, Carl |
| 11 |
| Miles, Theresa Miles, and Lisa Miles; her extended family, |
| 12 |
| Joseph (Donna) Harris, Willie Harris, and Tyanne Harris; and |
| 13 |
| her many other relatives and friends; and

| WHEREAS, O.T. Buster was also survived by her niece, Bobbie |
| 15 |
| Hawkins, who is now deceased; therefore, be it |
| 16 |
| RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL |
| 17 |
| ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with |
| 18 |
| her family and friends, the passing of O.T. Buster; and be it |
| 19 |
| further
|
| 20 |
| RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
| 21 |
| presented to the family of O.T. Buster as an expression of our |
| 22 |
| sympathy.
