| SENATE RESOLUTION
|

| WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
| 3 |
| learn of the death of Joseph J. Broderick of Joliet, who passed |
| 4 |
| away on May 3, 2009; and
|
| 5 |
| WHEREAS, He was born in Joliet; he was a long time resident |
| 6 |
| of Lockport, and lived in Joliet since 1957; and
|
| 7 |
| WHEREAS, He was a graduate of Sacred Heart (St. Dennis) |
| 8 |
| Grade School and Lockport High School, attended St. Joseph |
| 9 |
| Rensselaer for one year, and received his Bachelors degree in |
| 10 |
| Civil Engineering at Purdue University in 1952; and
|
| 11 |
| WHEREAS, He retired from Hines VA Hospital in February |
| 12 |
| 2007, following 30 years of service; he was a member of the Old |
| 13 |
| Timers Baseball Association, John Purdue Club, Moran A.C., and |
| 14 |
| the Joliet Moose Lodge #300; he was an avid Purdue football |
| 15 |
| fan, and was very proud of his Lockport High School Alumni; and
|
| 16 |
| WHEREAS, He was preceded in death by his beloved daughter, |
| 17 |
| Mary Margaret Broderick; his parents, John and Virginia (nee |
| 18 |
| Fitzgerald) Broderick; several nephews; in-laws; and other |
| 19 |
| family members; and
|
| 20 |
| WHEREAS, Joseph Broderick is survived by his loving wife of |
