| WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
3 |
| learn of the death of
Gail Bivin; and
|
4 |
| WHEREAS, Gail Bivin was a well-known entrepreneur in her |
5 |
| community; she opened her first store in Barrington in 1993; |
6 |
| she then moved to Naperville in 1996 after being drawn to the |
7 |
| growing development along the city's Riverwalk; in 1996, she |
8 |
| opened the Canterbury Shoppe, a downtown boutique known for |
9 |
| selling Naperville-centric items; in 2005, she acquired a |
10 |
| neighboring shop and expanded her store by 1,100 square feet; |
11 |
| and
|
12 |
| WHEREAS, Gail Bivin was a former employee of Kraft Foods; |
13 |
| she also helped raised money and served on the board of Little |
14 |
| Friends, a Naperville organization for children with |
15 |
| developmental disabilities; and
|
16 |
| WHEREAS, Gail Bivin was the recipient of the Naperville |
17 |
| Area Chamber of Commerce 2007 Small Business of the Year award |
18 |
| and the Naperville Jaycees Distinguished Service Award; and
|
19 |
| WHEREAS, Gail Bivin is survived by her husband, Bob; her |
20 |
| parents, Patrice and Malcolm Andrews; her stepdaughters, |
21 |
| Stephanie Bivin and Allison Bivin; her sisters, Martha Hunt and |
