| WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |

| learn of the death of
James E. Lind, who passed away on October |
| 4 |
| 8, 2009; and
|
| 5 |
| WHEREAS, James Lind was born in Lemont; he earned 4 varsity |
| 6 |
| letters in basketball and 3 letters in football at Lemont High |
| 7 |
| School, throwing 13 touchdown passes for the 1945 football |
| 8 |
| team; in 2008, he was named to the Lemont High School's Hall of |
| 9 |
| Fame; and
|
| 10 |
| WHEREAS, After high school, James Lind attended North |
| 11 |
| Central College in Naperville, where he helped the team to |
| 12 |
| back-to-back seven-win seasons in 1946 and 1947; he earned his |
| 13 |
| bachelor's degree in health and physical education in 1950 and |
| 14 |
| his master's degree in education from Northern Illinois |
| 15 |
| University in 1964; and
|
| 16 |
| WHEREAS, After taking a number of teaching jobs downstate, |
| 17 |
| James Lind took a job teaching biology at Downers Grove North |
| 18 |
| in 1955; a year later, he became an assistant football coach |
| 19 |
| under legendary head coach Dick Carstens, for whom the school's |
| 20 |
| football stadium is named; and
|
| 21 |
| WHEREAS, In 1957, James Lind was one of 8 teachers who were |
