| WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
3 |
| learn of the death of
Robert Donald Grahn of Hinsdale, who |
4 |
| passed away on August 10, 2009; and
|
5 |
| WHEREAS, Robert Grahn was born on October 2, 1922, in |
6 |
| Chicago; his parents were John and Lydia Grahn; in 1956, he |
7 |
| moved to Hinsdale with his wife, June; and
|
8 |
| WHEREAS, After graduating as an electrical engineer from |
9 |
| Purdue University, Robert Grahn served his country in the |
10 |
| United States Navy during World War II and the Korean War; |
11 |
| after his discharge, he worked as a design engineer for the |
12 |
| Sunbeam Corporation until his retirement in 1987; and
|
13 |
| WHEREAS, Robert Grahn was an active member at the Christ |
14 |
| Lutheran Church in Clarendon Hills for more than 50 years, |
15 |
| having served on the church's council and as an usher |
16 |
| throughout the years; he was also an active member and past |
17 |
| commander of the American Legion Post #250 and participated in |
18 |
| many of the post's parades and ceremonies; and
|
19 |
| WHEREAS, Robert Grahn enjoyed taking vacations in Lemon |
20 |
| Bay, Florida every year; he was well known in that area as an |
21 |
| aficionado of music from the 1940s; he particularly enjoyed |
